This is Cyrax after being forced to go through the cyberization process of the Cyber Initiative. The purpose of the Cyber Initiative is to turn ninjas in the Lin Kuei into cyborgs. Cyrax eventually regains his free will and self-destructs to kill the other Cyber Lin Kuei ninjas before Mortal Kombat X. A past version of Cyrax after being forcibly turned into a cyborg is brought to the present in Mortal Kombat 11. The past version of Cyrax also regains his free will and he sacrifices himself to stop the creation of more Cyber Lin Kuei ninjas.
