Singer in the Dark

Lured by legends and tales of an enchanting voice echoing forth from the dark depths, I and my companions ventured into the Underdark despite the dangers in search of its source. Along the way, I became separated from my companions and thought myself to die. It was then that I heard the faintest chords bouncing through the caverns near where I lay.

I gathered myself and pushed forward deeper, spelunking through narrow passage, nearly tearing myself apart against sharp rocks until I fell into a wondrous cavern lit by lanterns burning beneath mushroom pillars.

The voice emanated from a conical structure in the roof where the lanterns all seemed to gather close. I swam and crawled my way closer to get a better look. It was not until I pulled myself to my feet while beneath the object that three glowing orbs appeared and began to regard me.

I stared back at them as the music rose enraptured by the sounds, lost in the melody of the creatures voice.
