As they neared the cave, Larkin signaled a halt and to duck down. The rest of the team did so, blending seamlessly into the trees, though their black pressure suits were a dead giveaway. Larkin looked through his monocular at the cave. Two of the dissidents were standing at the mouth of the cave, carrying one of the crates. They spoke briefly (though Larkin could not make out what they were saying) and began to carry the crate towards the camp.

Larkin waited some time to make sure there were not any more dissidents in the cave. After verifying no one else was coming or going from the cave, Larkin ordered his team to quickly go inside.


“Bjornson, stand guard,” Larkin said. The Norwegian acknowledged the order and Larkin, Fairbairn, and Helena went to the to the Rings. Fairbairn knelt next to them and pulled out her tablet from her rucksack. She plugged the specially made control crystal into the control panel. The two coordinates appeared on the tablet screen: one active and one inactive.

“Sister Helena, put on your mask and step in the center of the platform,” Fairbairn said.

“Yes, ma’am,” Helena replied as she put on her mask. After making sure her suit was connected properly (with thumbs up from both Larkin and Fairbairn), she stepped into the center of the Rings; the inactive coordinates became active.

“Bless me bagpipes!” exclaimed Fairbairn.

Larkin put on his mask and stepped on to the platform with Helena, “Bjornson, same as before. If we're not back in two hours, alert the Seabees and Stargate Command. Coordinate with Commander McClendon.”


“Aye, sir. Good luck,” Bjornson replied. Larkin motioned for Fairbairn to join him and Helena in the center of the platform. 

“Weapons in high ready, flashlights on,” Larkin ordered. He and Fairbairn turned on the flashlights on their P90s while Helena pulled out a small tactical flashlight from her vest. She brought the light up in her left hand, bracing wrist to wrist as the Zat rested steadily in her right, the beam flashing across the Naquadah ring before vanishing again.

“Fairbairn, activate the rings,” Larkin said.

“Aye sir,” the Scot said. She began to type in the coordinates. A faint hum was heard.

“St. Nuno, protect us,” Helena said as the rings activated.


As Helena made the Sign of the Cross, a knock was heard at her door. It was Fairbairn. She was wearing her pressure suit and was holding Helena’s pressure suit.

“Put this on, Helena. But I would put your holster and tactical vest on over the pressure suit,” Fairbairn said. Helena did so and came out into the refectory just as Colonel Larkin and Bjornson came in.

“Perfect, Ladies,” Larkin said warmly. “Just give us a few moments. to get ready.” They did so and checking in with Commander McClendon, SG-24 went out to the cave.
