Eshu: Warden of the Golden Balance

Eshu: Warden of the Golden Balance captures the intricate, dualistic essence of the Yoruba Orisha of the crossroads, messengers, and chance. Rather than a force of malice, he is the divine overseer of cosmic energy and the strict arbiter of choice, testing human character to maintain true equilibrium.

The piece visualizes this spiritual tension through striking contrast on heavily stained, burnt-edge antique parchment. Eshu’s face is split by dramatic chiaroscuro light—one half bathed in a cool, electric neon blue representing fate, and the other in a fiery crimson symbolizing human free will. At the center of this tug-of-war, he playfully spins a gleaming golden coin representing the razor-thin line between fortune and misfortune. Through a masterful double-exposure effect, his silhouette blends into an infinite, labyrinthine crossroad, establishing him as the ultimate guardian of destiny.
