"Mom's adopting them as honorary Martins was her way of keeping me on a short leash.  She was especially fond of Maxine, whose vision soon made her a new source of inspiration for games for the study binder.  She didn't have to wait long until their positive influence started rubbing off on me.  I was soon devouring their National Geographics with Marco, and soon after that the many books from our shelves too.
