Since they were both awake, they continued their voyage northwards, as soon as it was light enough to do so. For about an hour they walked in almost complete silence, both of them lost in thoughts. For the first time since their escape from the fire, Pipper was extremely aware of Julia’s presence. Not that he hadn’t been aware that she was with him before, but it was as if something had changed. It was like he could almost sense were she was, even if he would close his eyes. It was weird, he felt a bit uncomfortable were before he had not been. He was glad when they reached the edge of the forest and before them was a river. “This is good”, he said to Julia.
