“Surrender! Lay down your weapons!” The Stag called out. He ordered his men to close in on the log where Helena and Maerwynn were hiding.
“Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death, Amen,” Helena and Maerwynn prayed quickly. Helena peeked over the log and fired her Zat. The blast missed its mark and ended up hitting a tree.
“Come on! Where are you guys?!” Helena asked. As if God had answered her prayer, she could hear voices coming from behind her.
“McClendon have your team lay down cover fire! Fairbairn, see to Helena and the child! Bjornson, you’re with me!” Larkin barked.
“Maerwynn, cover your ears, it’s going to get loud,” said Helena. The child did as she was told.

The Seabees took up position in front of Helena, firing their P90s at the Jaffa. Bullets ricocheted off the breastplates of the Jaffa, who were stunned by the ricochet, but eventually they fell.
Taking position to the left, Larkin and Bjornson knelt and opened fire on the Jaffa. The remaining Jaffa fired their Staff Weapons at the Tau’ri, sending the Seabees back. The Seabees responded with a barrage of fire, sending the Jaffa back.
Fairbairn reached Helena and Maerwynn and tapped the Carmelite on the shoulder, signaling her presence.
“I relieve you,” Fairbairn cried.

“Get back to base! Simon and Mary are waiting there! I’ll cover your escape!”
