Keres the Goddesses of Violent Death

They were the daughters of #Nyx the #Goddess of the Night and some versions say the daughters of #Erebus; the personification of #darkness; a place between Earth and #Hades; the #Underworld.

Despite the fact that their presence guaranteed a #violent #death, including death in battle, by accident, murder or ravaging #disease, the #Keres did not have the power to kill.

Instead, flocks of them could be seen hanging around battle fields like vultures searching and waiting for the wounded and dying to draw their last breath.
