Typical Rescue Pod

An emergency rescue pod / escape pod, that can be jettisoned when full if the space station suffers catastrophic damage. These pods are standardized for close proximity / orbital use. As such every ship is capable of either collecting them, or docking with them, in order to render aid to the occupants and carry them to safety. All rescue pods, carry enough consumables to survive at least 7 days at full capacity, including maintaining orbital velocity, along with deployable solar and fuel cell power systems. With smart management, or less then full capacity resources can be stretched to a maximum of two weeks.
