I found him resting among the mushrooms in the forest, and he called out, "Tame me." But what did he mean?

It sounded so beautiful, so I obliged. And in taming the fox, and in the fox taming me, I learned that "it is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye."
