An utbyrd is the quasi-corporeal ghost of an infant or young child who met an unfortunate, untimely end, twisted and deformed by undeath. Their supernatural powers combined with their unreasoning, infantile rage makes them very dangerous. When an utbyrd arises within the Empire it is considered an extreme emergency, and all Inquisitors and Exorcists within the affected kingdom will be mobilized to put it down.
