Thank you so much! This character is very much a new creation in my writing, and I'm still getting to know her. :)

Deputy Harris from the novel set in 2000-01 has jumped to the city police department and risen through the ranks to become the fictional Tennessee city's youngest, and first female, police chief by the year 2017 and the novel about a nearly demonic high school football coach and the far-ranging effects of toxic masculinity.

She's on maternity leave when a horrific crime causes her assistant chief, the acting chief, to quit on the spot, and she's forced to come back on duty. You wouldn't be happy, either, but that's not the only reason for that weary, aggravated expression.

Harris only ran for police chief because Sheriff Carter, her mentor, chose a less experienced deputy over her to be his chief deputy. Now she's on a task force with both of them.
