Star Trek Federation USS Vortex, NCC-91005 (3050)

The USS Vortex, NCC-91005, launched circa 3050 from a covert Section 31 dock, was the 31st century’s deadliest dreadnought, a 450-meter precursor to the Maelstrom lineage. Two nacelles anchor its sleek frame, but four Vortex Wells—trailblazing energy sinks—define its might. Each well cradles a pulsing, dark violet energy core, encased in a radiant gold lattice woven to fractal perfection, powering the Vortex Cascade Drive. This system, tapping proto-dark matter, propels Warp 9.9 with destabilizing pulses, a chaotic herald. Developed by Section 31 from scavenged Suliban temporal tech, blended with early programmable matter, the wells predate later Maelstrom designs. Armed with phaser arrays and quantum torpedoes, reinforced by adaptive shields and stealth plating, its 200-person crew dominates pre-“Burn” skies.
