This is straight up from a Studio Ghibli film from another universe. You captured everything that goes into saying "Yeah, that's some Ghibli". My impression of this - the moon, collides with the son. From left to right, the daughter who tried to hold the family together, holds the hand of the sister who never cared that the young man to her left wasn't her brother, or her father; she knew he had washed up on the banks near where her sister did the wash. Her sister was always hard on him, at least when the villagers came around. But she never went to sleep before him; she would always mark off his books and set them on the nighstand before she went to bed. Nobody thought she was awake to see this, but children are clever.
