She never calls me around this hour. I pick up, putting the phone to my ear, and mutter a, “Hello?”, semi-panicked. “Erick,”, Maisie began, “When’ll you come home?”. I sighed in relief. Thank God. “I’ll be back in another day or two.”, I replied, still calming down a bit. She was silent for a bit, unnerving my slightly. “Could you…”, Maisie finally mumbled, “…come home tonight, maybe?”. I sat there in thought for a moment, “Lass, you-uh…you alright?”, I asked, starting to get worried. “Yes, I’m fine. I just…”, Maisie paused, “…I’m worried about you.”. “Eh?”, I didn’t quite understand, “Why…w-what’s wrong? What happened?”. “I had…a dream.”, She answered, “About you.”. I, again, paused, then asking, “What kind of dream?”. She was silent again.
