Every bit of lumber was scorched as if the entire ship had passed through Hell itself. And lashed to the mainmast, was an emaciated half mad Capt. Branzgeiter. He wouldn't speak for days, only howling incoherently with only the occasional recognizable word, concerning flames and torture and blood.
 Until one morning he clasped the arm of a maid so hard it bruised painfully and hissed.
