Thanks! I want to work on making a more coherent picture. Any suggestions on how I could take the concept further? I'd love to get enough control to really make an actual political cartoon in this style. 

That may be difficult. I'm surprised you got as much of what you asked for as you did! Sometimes starting simple and then evolving can help. Also mentioning in the prompt, say, Thomas Nast or Punch magazine or something else associated with what you want could help. (Haven't tried either of those myself, you'll have to experiment to see what the AI knows...)
