Zephra “Zeff” Coil arrives like a draft through a cracked window: quiet, cold, and impossible to catch by the corners. An Air Genasi with noon-sky skin and hair that never learned the meaning of “still,” Zeff wears a weathered cloak, too many pockets, and a bandolier of stoppered bottles that clink like guilty prayers. Each vial holds a stolen moment: alleyway fog, a stairwell gust, the sound of thunder swallowed into glass. One bottle is larger, etched with a map of the city, its stormlight pressing at the glass like a fist behind a door.
Zeff ran from the Order of the Ascendant Nimbus, a sky-cult that tithes weather and sells it back as blessing. The drought followed, and Zeff knows why.
