"I'm not about to lose my husband before getting the chance to live a life with him!" is what she told the Druid Elders when they gave immense protest over the notion of healing a Warlock much less one as powerful and so far gone as their Chieftain, who is Renae's lawful husband.
It took Renae many months to find a solution that didn't end with Niklaus dying or succumbing to insanity. The solution had been there all along and she felt like an absolute idiot for not noticing it sooner.
"You can't be serious!" Is what Niklaus said in utter disbelief. "Wait, no, you are. But - Renae, binding ourselves together through our magic? Our bonds with the trees that gave us our staffs? Yew trees are poisonous! You could - !"
"By being with you already, I've built an immunity to it. It will work, Niklaus."
And it did work. By combining their magic together, Niklaus is no longer corrupted. Much to the shock of everyone who thought otherwise.
