True face appears, yet rough skin's plight,
Smooth vision held in inner light.
Bright spirit blooms, but chest feels bare,
A different form I long to wear.
Free steps I take, though body's plea,
For curves and softness, just to be.
Core self is clear, but mirror's view,
Shows hair and flatness, not the new.
Hope lights the way, though struggles stay,
Towards the image of a brighter day.
The heart takes part, with longing's art,
A truer self, a brand new start.
What he sees in the mirror: A face that is his true self, yet framed by features (rough skin, hair, flat chest) that don't fully align with his inner sense of self and his desire for a smoother, more feminine presentation.
