I drift alone in the endless space
No hope, no rescue, no escape
My tether snapped, my station gone
I face the void with silent calm
My oxygen is running low
I know this is the final show
But I don't cry, I don't despair
I gaze in awe at what is there
The Earth, the Moon, the stars so bright
They fill my eyes with pure delight
A cosmic dance of light and shade
A spectacle for which I paid
I don't regret the choice I made
To be an astronaut and brave
The unknown realms beyond the sky
And see the world with different eyes
I smile and whisper my goodbye
I close my eyes and wait to die
I drift alone in the endless space
But I die happy and in grace
