She felt a pang of sadness and anger as she realized that this was the end of her ranch. She had worked hard to keep it running, but the drought, the debt, and the market had been too much for her. She had no choice but to sell it to the bank, who would probably turn it into a golf course or a resort.

She wished she could find a way to make the ranch prosperous again. She had always dreamed of expanding it, of breeding better cattle, of hiring more hands, of building a new barn. She felt helpless and hopeless.

She looked at the horizon, where the sun was setting. She saw the colors of the sky, the shapes of the clouds, the silhouettes of the mountains. She felt a surge of love for this place, for its beauty and its history. She knew she would miss it terribly.
