The lesson behind Don Quixote is that there is value in all people regardless of social standing, world view, weight, age, etc. Don, who aspires to be a chivalrous knight, shows how ridiculous antiquated beliefs can be to those who have already conquered living in the present. In a climactic scene, Don Quixote sees a collection of windmills and believes they are giants. Donkey-riding sidekick Sancho Panza is the voice of reason and tries to warn him, but he doesn't listen and gets knocked around terribly by one of the sorcerer infected windmills.
