After the loss of her best friend, Aquiel took on any and all mercenary jobs to keep her mind distracted. She had hoped that assassinating corrupt villains would have moved along the grieving process easier. Instead, she was left more empty and alone than before. Desperate for companionship, she thought to attempt to forge bonds with fellow members of the assassin's guild. Nobody reciprocated her charm and generosity.
"You need to understand that we're here for a job, to take out those who need to be taken out, and get paid for it. No one wants to be burdened by friendship if a job goes south and one of us is dead," Jeferen once said to her. She had misconceived her place in his life when she thought they shared a connection for all of two weeks.
Aquiel understood the reasoning, but it didn't make her feel less lonely. She craved companionship, it was her obsession to feel needed by someone else, to have a meaningful place in somebody else's life.
