Stanley was really bad at finishing his tasks. He'd started out ok, but the scarecrow needed an upper part if it was going to scare any birds away!

His dad would probably take over the task. He'd end up stuffing an old jumper with hay, shoving through a pole from neck to waist. The head would be an old coal sack stuffed with chicken feathers and a hat from his wife's excessive millinery collection would be snook out and set upon the scarecrow's head with a length of barbed wire. "What's so complexicated about that, son!?" he'd ask Stanley. Stanley knew it could be simply done, but being the artistic type, he always went for perfection, beauty, style, context and meaning. He was more "in his head" than in "the outside World", so despite his creative yearnings, the visual, tangible elements of his art were very rarely created for others to witness...
