She was reverse-engineered from 20th/21st-century actress Rene Russo. Her name alludes to her character in the Thor franchise.

The doctors' relationship with Frija is mixed. They respect her keen eye and desire to acquire and keep top doctors, and she often uses the MATH chambers to analyze career deals. But she's ruthlessly focused on the bottom line, not on making people, and more than once has traded away a doctor right in the middle of a birthing project.
