In the days before ancient times, Athena, the Goddess of War, looked down toward Earth and saw the special suffering of Earth’s most beautiful women. She traveled to the Underworld to ask a special favor of Hades and persuaded him to provide special Guardians from among the souls in his realm. Athena then granted these Guardians the special abilities they would need to protect earth’s women from the carnal inclinations of both gods and men, such as magic, invisibility and spellcasting. The Guardians lived in the shadows and were made of darkness, fire, tar and black mist.
