In the Year of the Iron Serpent (1603 A.D.), the great Kaiser of China ruled with an iron fist, his empire buckling under rebellion and dark omens. Deep in the Mountains of the Silent Monks, an ancient brotherhood had guarded a forbidden tome for centuries—The Black Sutra of Wu Xing, a book penned by a sorcerer who had imprisoned the world’s most terrible spirits within its pages.
But the monks’ vigilance wavered.
The Book is Found
Li Kang, a disgraced scholar and thief, stumbled upon the monastery ruins while fleeing the Kaiser’s soldiers. Among the ashes of the monks—slaughtered by an unseen force—he found the book, its cover etched with a screaming dragon. When he broke the wax seal with his bare hands, the air itself howled.
