After some silence, Father Anselm knelt down at the steps of the altar and led the congregation in a prayer after communion. Then he stood and returned to the altar, and extended his hands. The priest chanted: “We have been fed with thy holy gift, give thanks, O Lord, humbly beseeching thy mercy, that thou wouldst makest worthy of that which we have received. Through Jesu Christ our Lord.”
The congregation replied. “Amen.”
Father Anselm chanted, “The peace of God which passeth all understanding, keep your hearts and minds in the knowledge and love of God and of his Son Jesu Christ our Lord;...” he kissed the altar and turns to the congregation “... and the blessing of God almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, be amongst you and remain with you always.” He made the Sign of the Cross with the side of his hand as the congregation made the Sign of the Cross.
