Father Anslem answered the door.

“Sister Helena, what brings you here?” he asked.

“I was thinking about tonight’s service, and I was wondering if you had a way to bless the congregation with the Blessed Sacrament?” She explained to him the concept of Benediction.

“That sounds like a wonderful idea, sister, but I unfortunately have no idea of what you’re talking about. But I’m willing to learn.”
Helena handed the priest her tablet on the proper section on Benediction and showed him how to advance and turn back pages on the tablet. As she left the rectory, she pulled out her comms.

“Sister Helena to Colonel Larkin. Permission to return to the Stargate. I need to get some religious articles for tonight.”

“Stargate Command, this Sister Helena. Come in.”

“General Carter here. Go ahead Sister.”

“General, requesting a monstrance and benediction materials for a service for Father Anslem tonight.”

“Standby, let me check with Chaplain Stichka,” Carter said. They waited for several minutes for a response.

“The Chaplain is sending it up now. Standby.” As they waited for the monstrance, the Stargate deactivated. From the corner of her eye, Helena saw a gleaming silver helmet; a raven’s head.

A large flash of yellow light went over their heads, exploding in the field ahead of them.

“Dang ol’ gotta git down, Sister! Talkin’ ’bout take cover, man, move move move!” cried Pfluger.

“You’ll get no argument from me, Chief,” Helena replied.


Helena returned to her quarters briefly to get a notebook. She began to scribble some notes for her reflection while humming the theme tune to *The Wind in the Willows*. The book was one of her favorites; her papa read it to her many times before bed. And every Sunday morning he made her waffles and they would watch the old Cosgrove Hall version at 9:30 on Channel 8. It brought her comfort reliving the adventures of Toad, Mole, Ratty, and Badger.

“*Comfort is what the villagers need. Jesus is the ultimate comfort*,” Helena thought. Then she remembered what Pope Francis did. In the throes of the pandemic, he blessed the World with the Blessed Sacrament. Only a few people received Communion on Sunday, but what if His Presence was enough to comfort these people?
