I’m actually writing a story that this really reminded me of! It’s about giant robots on a scale so big that almost nobody knows it exists…because they think it’s their planet! Obviously it’s a society that hasn’t mapped their entire planet, much less the cosmos, so they have no idea they’re living on a massive robot on standby mode.
