The focus on likes can create a "sameness" that is a disincentive to true creativity-- it also incentivizes uploads (paradoxically) because those who post images from MJ, other DALL-E sites or whatnot can get immediate attention for the "differentness" they provide, which is just a new form of sameness.
Basically there are different bandwagons that people jump on, which drives the DC culture and the images that dominate the Explore page, but those bandwagons do not necessarily benefit Nightcafe (financially, in terms of community and in terms of creativity).
