Right now where I live, local cherries are in abundance in the store. I've been eating my fill before the season's passed for another year. While they're nice, they taste nothing like the cherries we had on our four trees. I miss them, our Italian plum and out peach trees. ☹️ Seems few people here want to bother with their own fruit trees. Many people cut them down rather than care for them, pick and share.

☹️ 🧐 Orchards are one of the most valuable habitats, unfortunately I only have a balcony, but it is full of wild flowers, wild strawberries grow in between 😋

As of this year, I only have a balcony too. It's enclosed on five sides with only one side being open and it faces north. The best I can do with it is to give my houseplants a vacation outdoors during summer. It's depressingly dark. If I had one facing a different direction, I'd be like you and have it full of flowers but I'd also add herbs and a potted lemon tree (if it faced south).
