Part II. The Escape and Desert Capture

After months in the harem, Blanca orchestrates an escape with other enslaved women. But in the vast Algerian Sahara, they are captured by Tuareg camel herders. Historically, Tuaregs managed trans-Saharan trade routes, including slave caravans, but also integrated escaped or freed slaves into their society (e.g. the Bella or Iklan caste descended from West African slaves, though their status was historically servile).

Among them is Amastan, a noble Kel Ahaggar Tuareg warrior who sees her not just as ransom but as a potential queen of his dreams of freedom.
