“Helena, what the Rogue NID did was wrong. Terribly wrong. They acted outside the normal chain of command for their own personal gain,” said Larkin. “We, however had a chain of command and leaders who had and have principles, and stuck to them, no matter how enticing it was to compromise.” He sensed something was still wrong after saying what he said. “Helena, whatever this Goa’uld has up its sleeve, we will defeat it. You have my word.”

“And mine,” added Fairbairn.

“And mine,” put in Bjornson. These words seemed to brighten Helena's spirits.

“Thank you, all,” Helena said, trying to hold back tears.


“Do you need a few minutes to recollect yourself?” Larkin asked.

“That would be nice,” Helena replied. “I'll do so while I change into My habit,” Larkin nodded and Helena did so. When she returned to the refectory, the Carmelite announced She was ready.

“Off we go, Sister,” said Fairbairn.

“Good luck, you two,” said Larkin. The two women set off for the jail and the two men went to help the Seabees.


“We... We do?” Helena asked.
“Absolutely. Defeating Goa’uld is Stargate Command’s specialty. We’ve trained for this sort of thing,” Larkin replied.

“But I haven’t,” said Helena.

“You already have,” Larkin affirmed. “You were a good and courageous leader. You led many courageous missions in Iraq. General Carter tells me you've been a wonder at your Monastery. She also tells me you enrolled in the Academy at a young age.” 

“I did,” Helena replied. “Right after 9/11.” Helena felt a heaviness weigh on her. Colonel Galli had used the same tactic to convince her to join the Rogue NID.
