That's a good point! Athena is an interesting goddess. I'm still not sure if you can call what she did to Medusa a curse or protection from men. Could depend on how you look at it. I've always leaned on the side of it being a nasty curse, but some disagree 

I’d love to see a story that went more like “Athena saw a young woman being assaulted on the steps of her temple, so she blessed her with the ability to destroy any man who dared to put his hands on her.” Rather than mythology pitting everyone against each other all the time. (That, and I love Monster High’s portrayal of Medusa wearing sunglasses.)
