As I left with my parents, I couldn't resist a smile. The way we danced. The way we looked into each other's eyes. It felt so right, but so wrong at the same time. I felt really bad that I liked Ryan because Mel liked him too. And she didn't even know yet. At school the next day, Ryan and I kept giving each other a look. Mel didn't notice. Then, at lunch, something happened that shook my world. Ryan came up to me, with Mel right across from me, holding a bouquet of roses. Mel looked so happy, but when Ryan gave the roses to me, blushed, and walked away, she looked miserable. Then she looked pissed. "Wait....It was you! You were the girl Ryan was staring at. You were the one who flirted with him! Liz, how could you?!" Mel shouts. The cafeteria grows silent. "I-I'm sorry Mel. It just happened! I didn't expect this. at all." I stutter. I knew it was going to happen eventually, but I wanted to break it to her gently. Now it was all a big mess, and I was the only one who could clean it up.
