Occasionally, for cover

There were periodic health inspections. But she was always tipped off in advance. On that day, she'd step outside for her "occasional" cigar. You often met people that way.

Sometimes she even stepped outside, just because. But never with a big cigar, of course.

She wasn't worried. The air filtration system was so good, you couldn't tell a cigar had been smoked. So the only trick was not to get caught in the act. She had ways to be tipped off about that. It was the least of her information sources but one of the most emotionally rewarding.
