The First Light Between

Māori (Aotearoa, New Zealand) When Sky Father and Earth Mother were pressed together, their children lived in darkness. Only by pushing them apart was there space for light to enter. From this comes the lesson that even sorrow and struggle can open the way to clarity, and that balance between earth and sky is what allows us to breathe.
