I love this. But the thing is, as she is Muslim, she can't really be a sungoddess? I'm not trying to throw hate. I'm just trying to say, Muslims believe in one god, and we do not believe that anything else is. So Safiyya Sayed, who I'm going to assume is Muslim because of the tags, can't believe that she is... a sungoddess?

No worries, I'm glad you brought this up! Safiyya is a very staunch Muslim. Very religious, very headstrong woman who relies on faith more than logic.

A huge part of her character arc is that she's struggling with the fact she has influence over "the Sun" (this isn't Earth but rather an alternative reality to it, a world she stumbled into where belief is power, aka Magic). 

She clearly doesn't consider herself a goddess but people around her do and this creates a lot of tension because she doesn't want to be worshipped because she's Muslim. They've created all sorts of weird stories about her, even saying that she wears a scarf because she's protecting them from her djinn's flame but in truth Safiyya is just a ordinary Muslim djinn trying to figure what she's gotten herself into and how to get everyone to stop worshipping her.

Her love interest (the Noble Wendigo) convinces her that so long as she rejects Godhood, she's still Muslim.
