I just felt like doing another black-and-white, film noir type of creation, as if this were one frame of a suspenseful Hollywood film from the 1940s. I should note that a romantic might assume that Alan Ladd has his hands wrapped around hers because he just enjoys the sensation of holding her hands -- but a cynic might observe that this is one way for him to be reasonably sure that she won't suddenly pull out a gun and shoot him. I know which explanation I consider more probable, but you are free to form your own opinion.
