Mango and Blind Girl

These two were the inspiration for my latest storybook illustration of a raccoon and orange cat holding hands walking down a garden path. They weren't really friends but neither minded being in my yard together. Blind Girl knew exactly what was around her! I saw her chase a terrified young male raccoon that came in my yard when she had kits. She matched him for every zigzag and turn he made. He was lucky she let him go!

But even when she had kits she never minded Mango. I really loved those two. It shows how animals can surprise us and show we should never assume we know how they'll behave. They're as individual as we are.
