Your analysis is absolutely on point. It captures perfectly the narrative points that converge at this point in the story. From right to left we have: Lazar, Stanko and Zeko. At the beginning of the story, Lazar and Stanko are presented as childhood perfect friends. This changes when Stanko starts fancying Jelica, a girl in the village, which cannot choose between the two men. Lazar shoots at him, but misses him. He later frames Stanko for theft and Stanko goes to the mountains to join a hajduk band. Stanko there gets befriended by Zeko, one of the hajduks. Stanko vows to avenge himself and kill Lazar. When word reaches Stanko Jelica is going to be married off to Lazar, he rushes back to the village. He discovers that the village has been ravaged by plague and Lazar is one of the rare survivors. Lazar was expecting him and is ready to take the brunt of Stanko's revenge. 

When Stanko points the gun at Lazar, it jams, so Lazar takes and tries to finish himself off. Stanko wrestles with him and prevents him of doing so. After a long talk they reconciliate. Stanko asks Lazar to join his band and fight for freedom (he became chief meanwhile). Lazar accepts. Once back at the hajduk camp, which is a forest, Zeko does not like Lazar at all and thinks Lazar would betray Stanko again. So, he challenges Lazar to prove himself in three trials: jumping, wrestling and reciting poetry. Zeko loses the contest and the band accepts Lazar. Stanko realizes he made a mess, so he asks both Lazar and Zeko for forgiveness. He uses the image of two arms, he asks Lazar to be is his right hand and his sword and Zeko to be his left arm and his shield, to go to church and forgive each other and to fight as one. They become sworn brothers like the legendary heroes Ivan Kosančić, Milan Toplica and Miloš Obilić (famous heroes of the battle of Kosovo in 1389).
