Pontormo

Pontormo (Jacopo Carucci; 1494 – 1557) was an Italian painter of the Mannerism movement, known for his elongated figures and vibrant use of colour. Pontormo's style is characterised by its departure from the balanced compositions of the High Renaissance, embracing instead a more expressive and dynamic approach. He primarily worked with oil paints on canvas and fresco, creating religious and mythological scenes that are notable for their emotional intensity and intricate detail.
