Moonlake Ghost

She drinks where moonlight dares to gleam, Atop the lake’s enchanted stream. A breath of stars upon her fur, The night wind sighs because of her. Her antlers glow with ancient fire, Like spells once cast and lost to lyre. She steps, and every blade of grass Is kissed with light as shadows pass. No hunter dares, no bird will sing— The forest waits, a silent ring. A ghost, a wish, a whispered name, No two who’ve seen her leave the same.

The stars lean low to catch her eye, The fireflies forget to fly. One moment here, the next she’s gone— A mystery clothed in dusk and dawn.
