The irony of the Carver family is that the parents honored a gay Quaker socialist civil rights reformer (Bayard Rustin) by naming their oldest and only straight child after him, naming their gay son after the very heteronormative Malcolm X.
I know Nina's not straight, but I'm not sure whether she ever comes out to her dad and big brother in her adulthood.
