AFTER MY DAD (Polyphonic Prose Story)

Susie’s still waiting to use the bathroom. She'd been waiting all morning, and it was now close to noon. Now, knowing what we know, it was still too soon. We had mom’s special chili dinner last night. Something about dad's stomach wasn't quite right. Everyone yelled very loud, as you’d expect we might. When we opened the door, the whole room looked a fright. The smell from the bathroom blurred my eyesight. There was this greenish-gray foggy haze and an awful stink. We couldn’t even find the bathroom sink. It was like a nightmare, with strange looking stuff growing everywhere. The tiles were still on the floor, but they won’t withstand much more. We don’t dwell on the fact that our dad has now gone, or that the walls of the bathroom look like our back lawn. It still smells like a musty old tomb, and Susie’s still waiting to use the bathroom.
