Early-childhood educator, broadcast pioneer, and as the creator and host of "Storytime with Granny Goose," a comforting fireside voice to thousands on Friday nights for well over 30 years.
Penelope's steadfast refusal to feed her young audience pablum has won her fans young and old, and it was her rendition of the folk tale "The Striped Shirt" that turned a near forgotten superstition into children's fashion, especially among dogs with young pups.
There are few that don't drop what they're doing for an hour when they hear that warm greeting:
"Good evening Children. Welcome to Storytime with Granny Goose."
