The Vedic period (c. 1500–500 BCE) is the earliest layer of Hindu tradition.

In open-air ashrams along rivers, teachers recited the Vedas — hymns about fire, sky, wind, and truth — while students learned how ritual, nature, and sound formed a single sacred order. The small fire (yajña) symbolized harmony between humans and the cosmos; palm-leaf manuscripts and simple offerings kept knowledge alive from dawn to dawn.
