Her offer of a free wine tasting, with no strings attached, hung in the air. In an attempt to impress her, I stood tall and smiled, ready to accept the invitation. However, my brain seemed to have other ideas, and my response stumbled out, "Yeah, I would love to taste yo... I mean, us... god damn it, the wine…. I mean, the wine." My face went from pale to reddish, but to my surprise, she burst into laughter.

That day, I left the store without purchasing any wine, but with something far more precious—the phone number of the woman who would eventually become my wife and the love of my life.
